CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) - In the past few days, Chicago police have shot and killed two dogs.
Late Tuesday night, officers were called to the South Shore neighborhood to help out a pizza delivery driver who had just been robbed.
Cops found the suspects with the pizza box still in their hands. One of the suspects ran to a house and sent their pit bull to attack on them. Cops shot the dog twice. It survived.
This other case is now the focus of a lawsuit. On Saturday afternoon in the Uptown neighborhood, an officer who was writing a parking ticket was approached by a dog.
The owners say the bull terrier -- named Colonel -- was not threatening. The officer shot the dog twice. It also survived. The independent police review authority is investigating. Colonel's owners say he's a puppy and he wouldn't hurt a fly. They say that the cop could have used pepper spray or just kicked him.
